A number of local businesses support the event for example, installing the lights every year and providing gifts that are used in rafles to raise money for a plethora of great charities every year. Read MoreOur peninsula is situated between two estuaries (Malahide and Rogerstown) which are protected by Special Protected Area (SPA) Regulation. The SPA Regulations prohibit pollution, deterioration of habitat, and disturbance to birds using the area. The objective of this designation is the protection of natural habitats, fauna and flora. These areas are protected further by regulation known as Special Area of Conservation (SAC). The main aim of the Habitats Directive is to conserve the best examples of natural and semi natural habitats and species of flora and fauna throughout the EU. We take such issues very serious so we constantly monitor all planning applications to ensure developers are abiding to these critically important EU directives

Without this, it is like closing the stable door after the horse has bolted. Retail and commercial space is badly needed to service the demands of a booming population, and ensure the necessary community and social services are delivered in tandem with the developments across the peninsula.
